Meta AI Chatbots

Mark Zuckerberg-helmed Meta Platforms is reportedly working on artificial intelligence (AI)-powered chatbots that exhibit ‘different personalities’ and can have ‘humanlike discussions’ with those using the tech giant.

Meta is working on various AI chatbots based on multiple personalities, including the 16th president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln.

According to The Financial Times, Meta's AI division plans to launch multiple chatbots for Facebook, based on various personalities. There is supposedly a surfer personality that will help you with travel questions.

So, what are these chatbots?

According to FT, Meta staffers have dubbed these chatbots as ‘personas’ as these will be in the form of different characters. One of the bots will be based on Abraham Lincoln, while another one, that advises on travel options in the style of a surfer, has been discussed as well.

Purpose of chatbots

As per the FT report, these will provide a new search function and offer recommendations, in addition to being a ‘fun product’ for people to play with.

On the business side, chatbots, in general, may collect vast new amounts of data on users' interests, experts say.

Instagram working on labels for 'content generated by Meta AI'

While we don't know what Meta has planned in terms of consumer AI technology, we can make a fair assumption that the launch of generative AI tools may not be far off.

Instagram is working on incorporating labels that will clearly define content generated with the help of AI. In Meta's case, these may help it in reaching out to its target users in a better way, doing so with relevant contents and adverts.

According to screenshots shared by developer and reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi on X, the label will inform users that they are viewing content generated by "Meta AI", though it appears that the creator will have to flag them.
